작가 소개

그레이스 메츨러(Grace Metzler)는 1989년 뉴욕에서 태어나 활동하고 있다. 2017년에 헌터 칼리지에서 MFA를 받았으며, 같은 해에 권위 있는 레마 호트 재단 이머징 아티스트 그랜트(Rema Hort Mann Foundation Emerging Artist Grant)를 수상했다. 전시회로는 하프갤러리 개인전, V1갤러리(덴마크, DK), 티에리 골드버그(뉴욕, 뉴욕) 그룹전 등 뉴욕, 코펜하겐, 런던, 토리노에서 전시회를 열었다.
그레이스 메츨러의 관습을 벗어난 캔버스는 미술의 역사적 디테일에 대한 존경과 현대 생활의 혼돈과 색채에 대한 감상을 자아낸다. 표현주의적인 붓놀림과 어색한 컬러 팔레트로 작가는 유머 감각과 절제되지 않은 성욕으로 낯설고 바쁜 장면을 그린다.
